KPK Suspects Envelope Left by Kuansing Regent for Raja Juli Contained Singapore Dollars, Not Rupiah
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed its suspicion regarding the contents of an envelope left by the inactive Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Regent, Suhardiman Amby, at the office of Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni. The anti-corruption body suspects the envelope contained money in Singapore dollar currency.
The allegation was conveyed by KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo while explaining the progress of the investigation into a corruption case related to the release of a Limited Production Forest (HPT) area in Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau.
According to Budi, the money suspected to be inside the envelope originated from farmers who are members of a village unit cooperative for the purpose of processing forest area release permits. “The money was then exchanged into Singapore dollars. It is suspected that these Singapore dollars were then given by the Regent [Suhardiman] to the Forestry Minister [Raja Juli],” Budi told reporters on Wednesday, 8 July 2026.
The KPK suspects the money given to the Forestry Minister was previously collected from farmer members of the village unit cooperative. The funds were then exchanged into Singapore dollar currency before allegedly being handed over in an envelope during Suhardiman Amby’s audience at the Ministry of Forestry office. However, the KPK is still continuing to investigate the series of events as part of the inquiry process.
Budi stated that the alleged handover of the envelope was also directly confirmed by Raja Juli Antoni through a press conference held some time ago. According to him, the Forestry Minister has explained the chronology of the receipt and the return of the envelope. “This was also confirmed by the Minister through a press conference, where he even conveyed a complete timeline of when the receipt occurred and when it was returned,” said Budi.
Previously, Raja Juli Antoni confirmed that Suhardiman Amby had attended an audience at the Ministry of Forestry office on 2 June 2026. He explained that the meeting was an official audience requested through a formal letter and that the entire process was documented. “It is true that on 2 June 2026, there was an audience with the Kuansing Regent at this office. This was an open audience. The Regent sent an official letter, it was published on my social media and the ministry’s, and there is an attendance list and minutes. So, if at any time the KPK requires it, or we will even be proactive in submitting what I mentioned earlier,” said Raja Juli on Friday, 3 July 2026.
