KPK Suspects Envelope for Minister Raja Juli Contained Singapore Dollars

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that an envelope left by non-active Kuantan Singingi Regent Suhardiman Amby for Forestry Minister Raja Juli Antoni contained a sum of money in Singapore dollars. “This is currently the material being investigated by the investigators,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Tuesday. He added that the KPK is currently investigating the amount of money in the envelope. Therefore, he stated that the KPK could not yet inform the public about the details of the envelope’s contents from Suhardiman to Raja Juli. This is further complicated because Raja Juli did not return the envelope to the KPK, but rather to Suhardiman’s party. “Regarding the details of the envelope’s contents, because the minister returned the envelope to the regent’s party and it was not included in a gratification rejection report, we have not yet been able to check the contents of the envelope,” he said. Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, securing 10 individuals. The operation was the 14th carried out by the KPK throughout 2026. Suhardiman Amby and Kuantan Singingi Regional Secretary Zulkarnain subsequently surrendered to the KPK on 30 June 2026. On 1 July 2026, the KPK named Suhardiman, Zulkarnain, and the President Director of PT Mitra Ideal Consultant, Ardiles, as suspects in a bribery case related to the buying and selling of positions within the Kuantan Singingi Regency Government. In addition to the bribery allegations, the KPK also suspects Suhardiman of receiving gratuities related to the management of the release of limited production forest areas. After his name was implicated in the case, Forestry Minister Raja Juli explained on 3 July 2026 that during an audience with Suhardiman on 2 June 2026, the regional head left behind an envelope inside a closed folder. According to Raja Juli, he only realised the envelope was there after Suhardiman had left the room. He then ordered his aide to return the envelope without knowing its contents. Raja Juli said the return of the envelope was carried out on 12 June 2026, after a delay due to scheduling issues. The envelope was returned to Suhardiman through his aide in Kuantan Singingi Regency.
