The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects there was a distribution of money to certain parties in the alleged corruption case involving the management of capital investment and long-term loans at the Indonesia-Japan joint venture, PPT Energy Trading Co., Ltd. (PPT ET).

“There is an allegation that it was packaged through the distribution of bonuses to certain individuals,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Wednesday evening (17/6).

For this reason, Budi said the KPK is still investigating the investments made by PPT ET, including the concealment of money from the alleged corruption through the distribution of these bonuses.

Meanwhile, he said the investigation into the case continues to progress positively because the witnesses summoned by the KPK have complied with the summons and provided the required information.

“In due course, investigators will certainly detain the suspects,” he said.

The KPK announced the commencement of the investigation into the case on 30 July 2025. The case relates to alleged corruption in the management of capital investment and long-term loans at PPT ET during the 2015-2022 period.

During the investigation process, the KPK has prevented three individuals from travelling abroad, namely MH from PPT ET, and MZ and OA from the private sector.

Meanwhile, the KPK stated that the case is also linked to alleged corruption in the procurement of liquefied natural gas (LNG) at PT Pertamina (Persero) during the 2011-2021 period.

According to PPT ET’s official website, PT Pertamina (Persero) holds a 50 percent stake in the Indonesia-Japan joint venture.

The remaining shareholding in PPT ET is owned by 13 Japanese companies, namely Toyota Motor Corporation, ENEOS Corporation, Chubu Electric Power, The Kansai Electric Power, INPEX Corporation, Cosmo Oil, Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Idemitsu Kosan, Japan Petroleum Exploration (JAPEX), Tokyo Gas, Kashima Oil, Kyushu Electric Power, and Nippon Steel Engineering.
