KPK Suspects Bank BJB Corruption Funds Used to Influence BPK Audit

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed allegations of an attempt to condition an audit by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK) in connection with a corruption case involving advertising procurement at PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Jawa Barat dan Banten (Bank BJB) for the 2021-2023 fiscal years. Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, stated that the investigative team found indications of efforts to cover up certain audit findings. “It was revealed that there was an arrangement for these findings,” Taufik said at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Monday night. He explained that the suspects allegedly used non-budgetary funds sourced from the advertising procurement to facilitate the handling of the BPK findings. These funds are suspected to have been used to suppress indications of unlawful acts discovered by the auditors. “This non-budgetary fund was used by Bank BJB to manage audit findings that indicated unlawful acts,” he asserted. However, the KPK is not yet willing to detail which parties from the BPK were involved or the technicalities of the conditioning, as the investigation is still ongoing. “This is material that is also being investigated by the team, but we cannot convey it at this time because it is in progress,” Taufik added. To date, the KPK has detained four of the five suspects who were named on 13 March 2025. The President Director of Bank BJB, Yuddy Renaldi, has not yet been detained as he is reportedly ill. The case, which involves six advertising agencies, is estimated to have caused state financial losses of up to Rp223 billion. During the investigation, the KPK also searched the residence of former West Java Governor Ridwan Kamil on 10 March 2025 and seized a number of assets in the form of motor vehicles. Ridwan Kamil himself complied with an investigator’s summons as a witness on 2 December 2025 to provide information regarding the policy flow and supervision of advertising procurement at the regional bank.
