KPK Suspects Abdul Wahid Channelled Money Through Tuanku Tambusai Military Commander's Aide

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) suspects that non-active Riau Governor Abdul Wahid provided a sum of money through the aide to the Commander of Military Region XIX/Tuanku Tambusai. “That is the suspicion. Just follow the trial later,” said Acting Director of KPK Investigation Achmad Taufik Husein to journalists in Jakarta on Monday. Consequently, Taufik stated that the KPK requires testimony from the military commander’s aide and had scheduled an examination as a witness in the alleged extortion case within the Riau Provincial Government for Thursday (2/7). “The KPK needs clarification of the aide’s testimony,” he said. However, he noted that the aide was unable to attend due to other commitments. “Because of other activities, the aide was not present and will be rescheduled by the investigation team,” Taufik said. The KPK hopes the aide can attend the rescheduled examination. Furthermore, he stated that the testimony is also needed to complete the case file of suspect Marjani (MJN). “That’s correct, his testimony is needed for the case file of suspect MJN, who is the governor’s aide currently detained by investigators for case completion, and it will soon be transferred to the prosecution stage,” he said. Previously, on 3 November 2025, the KPK confirmed the arrest of Riau Governor Abdul Wahid and eight other individuals in a sting operation. On 4 November 2025, the KPK announced that Governor’s Expert Staff Dani M. Nursalam had surrendered to the anti-corruption agency. On 5 November 2025, the KPK named Governor Abdul Wahid (AW), Head of the Riau Public Works, Spatial Planning, Housing, Settlement Areas and Land Agency M. Arief Setiawan (MAS), and Expert Staff Dani M. Nursalam (DAN) as suspects in an alleged extortion case within the Riau Provincial Government for the 2025 fiscal year. Some time later, on 9 March 2026, the KPK announced it had named Abdul Wahid’s aide, Marjani (MJN), as a suspect in the case.
