JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Former Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Yudi Purnomo Harahap has called on the KPK Supervisory Board (Dewas) to investigate the decision to change the detention status of former Minister of Religious Affairs (Menag) Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, who is a suspect in the alleged corruption case regarding the 2023-2024 hajj quota.

“It is not difficult if the Dewas, as the supervisory body, is proactive in investigating why this transfer of detention occurred and who is responsible,” Yudi stated in his comments on Tuesday (24/3/2026).

“The capacity of the Dewas is not to interfere in substantive law enforcement, as they cannot enter that area, but to address irregularities in the process,” he said.

Monitoring and investigation by the KPK Dewas is seen as an effort to improve so that this incident does not recur.

Moreover, the KPK Dewas has the function of safeguarding the good name of the KPK institution while directing the corruption eradication process onto the right path.

One week later, on Thursday (19/3/2026), Yaqut was transferred to house arrest at the request of his family.

This change in detention status was only announced by the KPK on Saturday (21/3/2026), coinciding with Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.

“Today, Monday, 23 March 2026, the KPK carried out the process of changing the type of detention for Suspect Mr. YCQ in the alleged criminal corruption case on the hajj quota, from house arrest back to KPK detention centre,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Monday evening.

It is known that Yaqut underwent a health examination first at Bhayangkara Police Hospital, East Jakarta, before being returned to the KPK detention centre.
