The Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will examine Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, a member of the Indonesian National Police serving as an administrative staff member at the institution, who has been named a suspect in an alleged extortion case. Dewas member Benny Mamoto stated that he has coordinated with the KPK’s Deputy for Enforcement regarding the examination of Dias. He said the board requires information from Dias as material for internal evaluation at the KPK. “I have coordinated with the Deputy for Enforcement to arrange the time for the examination of Mr D, because the Dewas needs as much information as possible for us to study and analyse where the weaknesses lie, as material for future improvement,” Benny said at the KPK Dewas Office on Monday (3/8). Benny also urged all parties to await the results of the investigation into the case being conducted by the KPK. “The investigation of this case is certainly transparent, supported by evidence, including the contents of the individual’s mobile phone, all communications and so on, his parents and so on. The scope of who is involved and so on will be visible there,” he said. On the same occasion, Dewas Chairman Gusrizal stated that his party would process Dias in accordance with applicable regulations. Gusrizal touched on Dias’s status as a member of the Indonesian National Police. “Of course, we will process it according to the applicable regulations. Whether it falls under the code of ethics, the issue now is that the individual’s status is a member of the National Police, so we have to be careful with this report,” Gusrizal said. He noted that if the case is handed over to the National Police, the Dewas would not be able to examine the alleged ethical violation. “Whether it is returned to the National Police so that the Dewas does not have the right to conduct an examination. However, we will still, still conduct an examination for evaluation so that it does not happen again in the future,” he said. The KPK has named four suspects in connection with the alleged extortion case within the Pemalang Regency Government, Central Java Province. They are Anom Widiyantoro, the Regent of Pemalang for the 2025-2030 period; Mohamad Haris, also known as Gus Haris, a confidant of Anom; Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, a police officer serving as an administrative staff member at the KPK; and Dias’s father, Lilik Budi Suprianto, a private citizen. Dias is also known to be an aide to a KPK commissioner. The suspects have been detained for an initial 20-day period from 30 July to 18 August 2026 at the KPK’s Red and White Building Detention Centre branch.
