The Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) will examine an administrative staff member of the anti-graft agency in connection with an alleged extortion case within the Pemalang Regency administration. The staff member has been identified as Setya Budi Dias (DIS).

The KPK Supervisory Board will conduct the examination of the individual, which will also serve as material for future evaluation. "Nevertheless, we will still carry out the examination for evaluation purposes so that this does not happen again in the future," said KPK Supervisory Board Chairman Gusrizal during a press conference on the Board’s First Semester 2026 Performance Report on Monday, 3 August 2026.

He stated that the board would proceed with caution in handling the matter, as the individual is a civil servant seconded (PNYD) from the Indonesian National Police (Polri). "Whether this falls under the code of ethics, the issue now is that the individual’s status is a Polri member, so we need to be careful regarding this report," he said. "The question is whether it should be returned to the police, meaning the Supervisory Board does not have the authority to conduct the examination."

On the same occasion, KPK Supervisory Board member Benny Mamoto stated that the board had coordinated with officials within the anti-corruption agency regarding the examination of Dias. "I have coordinated with the Deputy for Enforcement to schedule the examination of this individual, DI. Because the Supervisory Board needs complete information to study and analyse where the weaknesses lie as material for future improvement," Benny said.

A KPK staff member has been named a suspect in the case that has ensnared Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro. The staff member, Setya Budi Dias Oktavianto, works in the administration section of the KPK. He is suspected of extorting the regent in relation to case management.

Responding to this, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the arrest of one of its own personnel demonstrates the commission’s commitment to impartiality in uncovering a case. This effort is part of upholding integrity within the KPK’s Red and White building, encompassing both institutional integrity and the individual integrity of every KPK member. "We emphasise that every legal process at the KPK is carried out objectively, transparently, and accountably. This includes cases involving members of the Commission itself," he said on Thursday, 30 July 2026.
