KPK Supervisory Board Sanctions Employees for Concurrent Positions and Morality Violations

The Supervisory Board (Dewas) of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has imposed sanctions on two KPK employees during the period from January to July. KPK Supervisory Board member Sumpeno explained that during that period, the Board received 14 ethical complaints and one complaint regarding arrears in 2025. He explained that of the dozen complaints, eight are still in the analysis stage, and five are in the clarification stage. Sumpeno stated that two complaints have been decided in ethical hearings. One complaint resulted in a heavy sanction. He did not detail the case that received the heavy sanction. However, according to a slide presentation shown, the heavy sanction was related to holding concurrent positions. “So, not long ago, the Supervisory Board imposed a sanction on one KPK employee to deliver a direct public apology, which will be uploaded on the commission’s internal network or portal for 40 working days. That is the heavy sanction,” Sumpeno said during a press conference at the KPK Supervisory Board Office on Monday (3/8). He then explained that another complaint had been given a moderate sanction by the KPK Supervisory Board. Based on the slide presentation displayed to the media, this case involved a morality violation. “The sanction is moderate, a violation of Article 4 Paragraph 1 Letter N, which entails the obligation to deliver an indirect public apology. The earlier heavy sanction was direct, while this moderate sanction is indirect, delivered in writing and read before the KPK leadership or the Personnel Development Officer, and the apology statement will be announced on the commission’s internal network or portal for 30 working days,” said Sumpeno.
