Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Supervisory Board of the Corruption Eradication Commission (Dewas KPK) is currently refining the Supervisory Board regulation (Perdewas) so that it can govern the enforcement of ethics for civil servants seconded to the agency (PNYD), as well as amend the value of salary-cut penalties should KPK leaders or Dewas KPK members violate the code of ethics.

“Dewas KPK is currently refining the Supervisory Board Regulation on the Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct, with progress on the problem inventory list (DIM) for the Perdewas having reached 80 per cent,” said Dewas KPK member Sumpeno at the KPK Anticorruption Education Centre building in Jakarta on Monday.

Sumpeno further explained that one of the refinements to the Perdewas concerning the enforcement of ethics for seconded civil servants, including police officers and prosecutors, relates to changes to the definitions within the regulation.

“It should be understood that the KPK here consists of the leadership, then the supervisory board, and the staff. Now, some of these staff come from seconded civil servants. This will be addressed in the refinement of the Perdewas,” he said.

Regarding salary cuts, he said the refinement of the Perdewas relates to strengthening such sanctions.

“This can later be accommodated so that if any leader or Supervisory Board member violates the code of ethics, the financial penalty will be raised. Not as currently stipulated in the existing Perdewas,” he said.

Beyond those two matters, he said the refinement of the Perdewas also concerns regulatory harmonisation, efficiency of ethics violation examination procedures, and transparency of rulings.
