The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has begun summoning witnesses in the investigation into alleged bribery and gratuity acceptance involving the non-active Regent of Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing), Suhardiman Amby. β€œThe KPK has scheduled witness examinations at the Representative Office of the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency in Riau Province,” KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday. Budi stated that nine witnesses were summoned for questioning on Wednesday. They are Kuansing Regency DPRD Speaker Juprizal, Assistant I of the Kuansing Regional Secretariat Fahdiansyah, Head of the Kuansing Plantation and Livestock Service Andri Yama Putra, and Head of the Kuansing Public Works and Spatial Planning Service Ade Fahrer Arif. Also summoned were Head of the Governance Section of the Kuansing Regional Secretariat Sigit Purnomo, Kuansing DPRD member Dasver Librian, Secretary of the Kuansing Regional Disaster Management Agency Marel Hendra, Head of the General Affairs Section of the Kuansing Regional Secretariat Deswan Antoni, and Logas Tanah Darat Sub-district Head Syahferi. The KPK previously conducted a sting operation in Kuantan Singingi Regency and Jakarta on 29 June 2026, securing 10 individuals. The operation was the 14th such operation carried out by the KPK throughout 2026. Suhardiman Amby and Kuansing Regional Secretary Zulkarnain subsequently surrendered to the KPK on 30 June 2026. In addition to the bribery allegations, the KPK also suspects Suhardiman of receiving gratuities related to the management of the release of limited production forest areas. After his name was implicated in the case, Forestry Minister Raja Juli explained on 3 July 2026 that during an audience with Suhardiman on 2 June 2026, the regional head left behind a sealed envelope. According to Raja Juli, he only realised the envelope was there after Suhardiman had left the room. He then ordered his aide-de-camp to return the envelope without knowing its contents. Raja Juli stated the envelope was returned on 12 June 2026 after a delay due to scheduling conflicts. It was given back to Suhardiman through his aide in Kuantan Singingi Regency. On 3 July 2026, Raja Juli also reported the gratuity rejection to the KPK.
