KPK summons two commitment-making officials in DJKA Ministry of Transportation case

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned two commitment-making officials (PPK) as witnesses in the alleged bribery case concerning the construction and maintenance of railway lines within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

“The examination took place at the East Java Provincial Financial and Development Supervisory Agency’s representative office, namely RMM as PPK for the East Java Railway Technical Office for the 2021-2022 period, and DHP as PPK for the Jember-Kalisat line project in 2023,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In addition, Budi stated that the KPK has summoned the director of PT Giri Bangun Sentosa, initialled SH, as a witness in the case.

Previously, the case came to light following a catch-the-act operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK on 11 April 2023 at the Class I Railway Technical Office for the Central Java Region of DJKA Ministry of Transportation.

At present, the Class I Railway Technical Office for the Central Java Region has been renamed to the Class I Semarang Railway Technical Office.

The KPK then designated 10 suspects who were immediately detained in connection with the alleged corruption case for railway line construction and maintenance projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

After some time, or up to 20 January 2026, the KPK has designated and detained a total of 21 suspects. The KPK has also designated two corporations as suspects in the case.

The alleged criminal corruption case occurred in projects such as the double-track railway construction from Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso; the railway line construction project in Makassar, South Sulawesi; four railway line construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan Cianjur, West Java; and the level crossing repair project for Java-Sumatra.

In the construction and maintenance of these projects, it is alleged that certain parties arranged the winning contractors through manipulation from the administrative process to the determination of the tender winner.
