The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled the questioning of four leaders of the Tulungagung Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) on Friday, 17 July 2026. The four individuals are DPRD Chairman Marsono, and Deputy Chairmen Abdulah Ali Munib, Ebin Sunaryo, and Sabar. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that they are being examined as witnesses in connection with alleged extortion and other illicit receipts within the Tulungagung Regency Government. He did not provide detailed information regarding the specific material to be covered by investigators during the session. The case centres on non-active Tulungagung Bupati Gatut Sunu Wibowo, who has been named a suspect alongside his aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, for alleged extortion and gratuities during the 2025-2026 fiscal year. Both were initially apprehended in a sting operation by the KPK on 10 April. According to the KPK’s Deputy for Enforcement and Execution, Asep Guntur Rahayu, Gatut allegedly conditioned the awarding of several work packages within regional apparatus organisations and directly appointed certain partners. He is also suspected of manipulating the procurement of goods and services by rigging the winners of tenders. In the extortion scheme, Gatut allegedly received Rp2.7 billion, which was half of the Rp5 billion he had demanded from the regional apparatus organisations. The funds were collected by his aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, who pursued the victims for payment.
