KPK Summons Tulungagung Disaster Management Head in Gatut Sunu Case
The Corruption Eradancy Commission (KPK) has summoned Sudarmaji (SDM), the Head of the Tulungagung Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), as a witness in the alleged extortion case involving the inactive Regent of Tulungagung, Gatut Sunu Wibowo.
KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo informed journalists in Jakarta on Monday that the examination took place at the East Java Regional Police Headquarters. In addition to SDM, the KPK has summoned eight other witnesses, including representatives and directors from various companies such as PT Berkah Mitra Tani, CV Nindya Krida, PT Demaz Noer Abadi, CV Triples, CV Mitra Razulka Sakti, CV Tulungagung Jaya, CV Ayem Mulya, and CV Sapta Sarana.
This development follows a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK in Tulungagung, East Java, on 10 April 2026. During the operation, the KPK arrested 18 individuals, including Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his brother, Jatmiko Dwijo Saputro, who is a member of the Tulungagung Regional House of Representatives (DPRD).
On 11 April 2026, the KPK brought Gatut Sunu Wibowo, his brother, and 11 others to Jakarta for intensive interrogation. On the same day, the anti-corruption agency officially named Gatut Sunu Wibowo and his aide, Dwi Yoga Ambal, as suspects in a case involving alleged extortion and other illegal receipts within the Tulungagung Regency Government for the 2025-2026 fiscal year.
The KPK suspects that Gatut Sunu extorted regional apparatus within the Tulungagung Regency Government by using a modus operandi involving pre-signed, unstamped resignation letters from their positions and Civil Servant (ASN) status. Through this method, the KPK alleges that Gatut Sunu Wibowo collected up to Rp2.7 billion out of a target of Rp5 billion from 16 heads of regional apparatus organisations (OPD) within the local government.
