Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned a civil servant from the Ministry of Transportation with the initials MAHH as a witness in the alleged bribery case concerning the construction and maintenance of railway lines within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.

“The examination of MAHH, who is the former Head of the Railway Maintenance Agency of the Ministry of Transportation,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Budi further stated that the examination of the Ministry of Transportation civil servant is scheduled to take place at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta.

Based on the information gathered, the witness MAHH also previously served as Acting Director of Railway Facilities at the Ministry of Transportation.

Previously, the case came to light following a raid operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK on 11 April 2023 at the Class I Railway Technical Agency (BTP) of the Central Java Region of the DJKA Ministry of Transportation.

Currently, the Class I BTP of the Central Java Region has been renamed to Class I BTP Semarang.

The KPK then designated 10 suspects who were immediately detained in connection with the alleged corruption case involving railway track construction and maintenance projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

As of 20 January 2026, the KPK has designated and detained a total of 21 suspects. The KPK has also designated two corporations as suspects in the case.

The alleged criminal corruption case occurred in projects such as the construction of the double-track railway line from Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso; the construction of a railway line in Makassar, South Sulawesi; four railway track construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan Cianjur, West Java; and the repair project for level crossings in Java-Sumatra.

In the construction and maintenance of these projects, it is alleged that certain parties arranged the project winners through manipulation from the administrative process to the determination of the tender winners.
