KPK Summons Three Witnesses After Confirming New Suspect in Customs Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned three witnesses after confirming the identity of a new suspect in an alleged corruption case within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance, namely the Head of the Kediri Customs Office, Gatot Heroe Hernanda. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Thursday that the anti-graft agency had scheduled the examination of witnesses ARR and FIL, both civil servants at Customs, and ABS, an employee of PT Blueray Cargo. The examination of the three witnesses was scheduled at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Thursday. However, as of 1.20 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, it was not yet known whether the three witnesses had complied with the summons. The case originated from a sting operation within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise at the Ministry of Finance on 4 February 2026. The KPK initially named six suspects on 5 February 2026. They are Rizal, Director of Enforcement and Investigation at Customs for the 2024-January 2026 period who was serving as Head of the Customs Regional Office for Western Sumatra; Sisprian Subiaksono, Head of the Customs Enforcement and Investigation Intelligence Sub-Directorate; and Orlando Hamonangan, Head of the Customs Intelligence Section. Also named were John Field, owner of Blueray Cargo; Andri, Head of the Import Documentation Team at Blueray Cargo; and Dedy Kurniawan, Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo. The KPK subsequently named Budiman Bayu Prasojo, Head of the Excise Intelligence Section at the Customs Enforcement and Investigation Directorate, as a suspect on 26 February 2026. On 21 July 2026, the KPK announced the development of the case by issuing two investigation warrants. The KPK named a suspect whose identity could not yet be disclosed to the public in one of the warrants, while the other remained a general warrant with no suspect yet named. A day later, the KPK confirmed John Field’s statement that the suspect was Gatot Heroe Hernanda, Head of the Kediri Customs Office.
