KPK Summons Three Sukoharjo Public Works Officials in Bupati Etik Extortion Case
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned a number of officials from the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (Dinas PUPR) of Sukoharjo Regency in connection with an extortion case implicating Sukoharjo Bupati Etik Suryani. Three officials from the agency were called in for questioning today.
“Witnesses in the alleged corruption offence related to extortion within the Sukoharjo Regency Government,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Thursday (20/8/2026).
In addition to the three Sukoharjo Public Works officials, the KPK also summoned officials from the Sukoharjo Agriculture and Fisheries Agency and the Sukoharjo Education and Culture Agency. Budi did not yet explain what investigators intended to examine with the witnesses.
“The examination is being conducted at the BPKP Representative Office for the Special Region of Yogyakarta,” Budi said.
The witnesses summoned by the KPK today are:
Suyadi, Head of the Highways Division at the Sukoharjo Public Works Agency (2020–2024) and Head of the Water Resources Division at the Sukoharjo Public Works Agency (2024 to present)
Burhani Surya Aji Suratman, Head of the Regional Government Planning, Control and Evaluation Division at BAPPERIDA Sukoharjo Regency
Bagas Windaryatno, Head of the Sukoharjo Agriculture and Fisheries Agency
Joko Purwanto, civil servant
Sadiyo, retired civil servant
Hanan Oktavianto, Head of the Human Settlements Division at the Sukoharjo Public Works Agency
Sriyadi, Head of the Highways Division at the Sukoharjo Public Works Agency
Andri Riawan, retired civil servant of the Sukoharjo Public Works Agency
Sunaryo, Head of the Educator and Education Personnel Development Division at the Sukoharjo Education and Culture Agency
The KPK has named Etik Suryani a suspect in the extortion case within the Sukoharjo Regency Government. The KPK has also named two of Etik’s subordinates as suspects.
“The KPK has elevated the alleged corruption case related to extortion in the Sukoharjo Regency Government to the investigation stage and named three people as suspects,” said Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu at a press conference on Saturday (11/7).
The three people named as suspects by the KPK are:
Sukoharjo Bupati Etik Suryani
Head of the Sukoharjo Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD), Richard Tri Handoko
Head of the General Affairs Division of the Sukoharjo Regional Secretariat, Tri Mulyo.
Asep alleged that Etik Suryani received wage levies within the Sukoharjo BPKAD. Asep said Etik asked Richard to collect around 40 per cent of the incentives received by a number of BPKAD employees.
“ETS’s request is suspected to continue the ‘tradition’ of the previous bupati, who was also ETS’s husband, using the coded instructions ‘tambahan upah pungut kae ono tho?’ (the additional levy wage is there, right?); ‘kowe mrene kan ora bayar’ (you came here without paying, right?); ‘padakno karo Bapak’ (make it the same as with Bapak). The meaning is that the amount of money remitted should match the remittances made under the previous bupati,” Asep said.
KPK investigators have also searched a number of locations in Sukoharjo in connection with the case implicating Bupati Etik. One of the locations searched was Bupati Etik’s office and several agency offices within the Sukoharjo Regency Government.
KPK investigators also searched Bupati Etik’s residence. The house was identified as Etik’s safe house for storing 2.5 kg of gold suspected to originate from corruption proceeds.
