Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned seven individuals from hajj organising agencies, namely five people in Jakarta and two in Yogyakarta, as witnesses in the investigation into the alleged corruption case regarding hajj quotas.

“The examination will take place at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta and the Yogyakarta Special Region Financial and Development Supervisory Agency Representative Office,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Thursday.

Budi stated that the five witnesses summoned in Jakarta are SI as the President Director of PT Indonesia International Business, NPW as an official at PT Intan Salsabila, API as the President Director of PT Jazirah Iman, SR as a representative from PT Kafilah Suci Wisata, and FN as the Director of PT Kartika Utama.

Meanwhile, the two witnesses summoned in Yogyakarta are RTS as the President Director of PT Zhafirah Mitra Madina, and HIF as the Operational Director of PT Amanu.

On 9 January 2026, the KPK announced former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex, as special staff to Yaqut, as suspects in the case.

Meanwhile, Fuad Hasan Masyhur, the owner of the hajj organising agency Maktour, was not designated as a suspect, although he was previously banned from leaving the country.

On 27 February 2026, the KPK received the audit results from the Financial Audit Board (BPK) of the Republic of Indonesia regarding state financial losses in the hajj quota case.

The KPK then announced on 4 March 2026 that the state financial losses amounted to Rp622 billion.

On the same date, the family of Yaqut Cholil filed a request for the former Minister of Religious Affairs to be placed under house arrest.

The KPK granted the request, so Yaqut has been under house arrest since 19 March 2026. However, on 24 March 2026, the KPK re-detained Yaqut at the KPK Detention Centre after previously processing the transfer of detention status.

The KPK then designated two new suspects on 30 March 2026, namely Operational Director of Maktour Ismail Adham and Chairman of the Indonesian Hajj and Umrah Tour Travel Union (Kesthuri) Asrul Aziz Taba.
