KPK Summons Maktour Boss Fuad Again Regarding Hajj Corruption Case
On Tuesday (2/6), KPK investigators scheduled an examination of witness FHM, the President Director of PT Maktour, regarding alleged criminal acts of corruption related to the Hajj quotas for Indonesia’s 2023-2024 pilgrimage. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed the schedule to journalists on Tuesday.
The KPK expressed hope that Fuad would comply with the summons. Concurrently, the commission is set to examine Yaqut, who is already in custody in connection with this case. The scheduling was conducted following the conclusion of the Hajj season, with investigators expecting the witness to be available for questioning. Additionally, investigators have scheduled an examination for YCQ, who is currently a suspect in the case.
Fuad has previously been interrogated by the KPK regarding this matter, with his last examination occurring on 26 January 2026. In this Hajj quota corruption case, the KPK has named four suspects: former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas (YCQ), former Special Staff to the Minister Ishfah Abidal Azis, also known as Gus Alex (IAA), the Operational Director of PT Maktour Ismail Adham (ISM), and the Chairperson of the Kesthuri Association, Asrul Azis Taba (ASR).
To date, only Yaqut and Alex have been detained, while Ismail and Asrul remain at liberty. The KPK suspects that Ismail and Asrul provided funds to Yaqut in his capacity as the former Minister of Religious Affairs. These payments were allegedly facilitated through an intermediary, the former Special Staff, Gus Alex. It is alleged that Ismail provided USD 30,000 to Gus Alex and also handed over USD 5,000 to the former Director General of Hajj and Umrah Services at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Hilman Latief (HL).
The KPK estimates that the state losses in this case have reached Rp 622 billion, according to calculations provided by the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK).
