Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned officials of the Ministry of Transport, identified by initials SRO and RR, as witnesses in a case of alleged bribery related to the construction and maintenance of railway tracks within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transport.

‘The questioning is in the name of SRO and RR as civil servants of the Ministry of Transport,’ KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Friday.

Budi said the two Ministry of Transport officials are scheduled to be questioned at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta.

According to information gathered, SRO was the Head of the II Class West Sumatra Railway Technical Office from 2019-2022, and is currently the Head of the Transport Facilities Policy Centre at the Ministry of Transport.

Meanwhile RR is said to currently hold the position of Head of the II Class Kalimantan Timur Land Transport Management Office.

For the week, the KPK had previously questioned the Minister of Transport’s Expert Staff from the Budi Karya Sumadi era and Dudy Purwagandhi, Robby Kurniawan, as witnesses on Monday (May 18). The KPK then seized hundreds of millions of rupiah from Robby Kurniawan.

On Tuesday (May 19), the KPK summoned two managers at PT Tanjung Raya Intiwira identified as DP and OSJ as witnesses.

On Wednesday (May 20), the KPK summoned a Kemenhub civil servant identified as JVS, and the commitments official at BTP Class I Bandung from 2018-2022 David Sudjito as a witness.

Then on Thursday (May 21), the KPK questioned KE as a consultant and contractor at CV Parama Prima and Syafiq Multi Contractor, as well as Putu Sumarjaya, former Head of BTP Class I Semarang. The two witnesses were examined by KPK in relation to suspected project arrangements and the handing over of inducements to parties within the Ministry of Transport.

The case came to light after the KPK conducted a sting operation at the Java Central region’s Class I Railway Engineering Office on 11 April 2023.

The Class I Railway Engineering Office for Central Java region has since changed its name to the Class I Semarang Railway Engineering Office.

KPK subsequently named 10 suspects and ordered detention in relation to suspected corruption in projects for the construction and maintenance of railway tracks in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

As of 20 January 2026, KPK had named and detained 21 suspects in the case, including Sudewo. Additionally, two corporations were named as suspects.

The corruption case covers the Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso dual-track project, the construction of a railway line in Makassar, four track construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan, Cianjur, and the repair of a level crossing between Java and Sumatra.

In the project, it is alleged that the winner of the contractor was arranged through manipulations from the administrative stage to the tender winner determination.
