KPK Summons House Member Anwar Sadad in East Java Grant Fund Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned House of Representatives (DPR RI) member Anwar Sadad for questioning in the investigation into alleged corruption in the management of grant funds for community groups (pokmas) at the East Java Provincial Government for the 2019–2022 fiscal years. KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Monday that the examination was scheduled at the KPK’s Red and White Building for Sadad, who served as Deputy Speaker of the East Java Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) for the 2019–2024 period and is now a DPR RI member for 2024–2029. Budi stated that the suspect in the East Java grant fund case was scheduled to be examined as a witness on Monday. However, he confirmed that Anwar Sadad was unable to attend the summons. The KPK will therefore reschedule the examination. The KPK previously named 21 suspects in the development of the case, which originated from a sting operation in December 2022 involving then-Deputy Speaker of the East Java DPRD Sahat Tua Simanjuntak. The identities of the 21 suspects were announced on 2 October 2025, but the investigation into one suspect, former East Java DPRD Speaker Kusnadi, was halted on 16 December 2025 following his death. The remaining 20 suspects include three alleged bribe recipients: Anwar Sadad, Achmad Iskandar, and Anwar Sadad’s aide Bagus Wahyudiono. The other 17 are alleged bribe givers, comprising regional legislators and private individuals from various East Java regencies. As of 28 July 2026, the KPK has detained eight of the 20 suspects.
