The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned former Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi (BKS) today. Budi Karya was called as a witness in a case of alleged corruption involving railway lines at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) in East Java.

“That is correct, today Wednesday (18/2), the KPK has scheduled the examination of witness BKS, Minister of Transport from 2019 to 2024, in a case of alleged corruption within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) in the East Java region,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Wednesday (18/2/2026).

Budi explained that the examination was scheduled at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta. The specific matters to be explored during the examination have not yet been detailed. Budi Karya has not yet complied with the KPK summons.

“The examination is scheduled at the KPK Merah Putih building,” he stated.

The alleged corruption case involving railway lines at the DJKA under the Transport Ministry spans several regions, one of which is East Java. The KPK has named a number of suspects in this DJKA corruption case.

Most recently, the KPK designated inactive Pati Regent Sudewo as a suspect. The KPK stated that Sudewo was named a suspect in his capacity as a former member of Commission V of the House of Representatives.

“Mr SDW, within the framework of the DJKA case at the Transport Ministry — Mr SDW is not implicated in the context of being the Pati Regent, but rather in the context of being a member of Commission V of the House of Representatives, which is the partner commission of the Transport Ministry,” said Budi at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Thursday (22/1).
