KPK summons former Railway Engineering Office official to testify in railway track project corruption case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned two former officials of the Balai Perkeretaapian of the Ministry of Transport. They were summoned as witnesses in a case of alleged corruption related to the procurement of railway tracks within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transport. The KPK spokesperson, Budi Prasetyo, said in a written statement on Wednesday (20 May 2026). The two witnesses are the Head of Balai Teknik Perkeretaapian Medan for the period December 2020 to March 2023, JVS; and the former acting head of BTP Kelas 1 Bandung, initial DS. Budi did not disclose details of what would be examined from them. For information, the case has been under investigation by the KPK since 2023. The disclosure of the case began from an arrest operation (OTT) against 10 people. The investigation continues. By 2026, 21 people had become suspects. They are: 1. PTU (Putu Sumarjaya) as Kepala BTP Jabagteng 10. AFF (Achmad Affandi) as PPK BPKA Sulsel 11. FAD (Fadliansyah) as PPK Perawatan Prasarana Perkeretaapian 12. SYN (Syntho Pirjani Hutabarat) as PPK BTP Jabagbar 13. Budi Prasetyo (BP) as Ketua Pokja Pengadaan 14. Hardho (H) as Secretary of Pokja Pengadaan 15. Edi Purnomo (EP) as member of Pokja Pengadaan. 16. Risna Sutriyanto (RS) as Chair of Pokja proyek pembangunan Jalur Ganda KA antara Solo Balapan-Kadipiro. 17. Eddy Kurniawan Winarto (EKW) as a businessman 18. Muhlis Hanggani Capah (MHC) as a civil servant at the Directorate 19. Muhammad Chusnul as Junior Specialist Inspector of Prasarana Perkeretaapian 20. Dheky Martin as PPK at Balai Teknik KA Jawa Bagian Tengah 2020-2022 21. Sudewo as former Member of Parliament (DPR) Commission V. A number of these names have already been convicted and sentenced to prison. Recently, the KPK received a repayment of money in the case of the railway line project. The money was reportedly returned by Robby Kurniawan, who served as a Senior Expert Staff to the Minister of Transport during the Budi Karya Sumadi era. The money returned totaled hundreds of millions. However, there is no detailed information yet on how that money relates to the corruption case under investigation.
