KPK Summons Former Driver of Lukas Enembe as Witness in Papua Operational Funds Case
The case of alleged corruption in the management of operational support funds within the Papua Provincial Government is being investigated by the KPK. The investigative team today summoned Sumintha (SMT), the former driver of Lukas Enembe.
“Today, Thursday (2/4), the KPK has scheduled the examination of a witness in the alleged criminal act of corruption related to the management of operational support funds within the Papua Provincial Government,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Thursday (2/4/2026).
At the time these corruption allegations occurred, Lukas Enembe was still serving as Governor of Papua. In this case, the KPK has also designated the Assistant Regional Head Expenditure Treasurer of Papua Province, Deus Enumbi (DE), as a suspect.
The KPK investigative team today also summoned another witness named Fadly Ponto (FP), who is a private employee. The examination is scheduled to take place at the KPK building in Kuningan, South Jakarta.
“SMT is a self-employed individual (former driver of Lukas Enembe) and FP is a private employee,” Budi stated.
The state loss in this case amounts to Rp 1.2 trillion. Deus is alleged to have committed the acts together with Lukas Enembe.
The substantial fund allocation was meticulously designed by Lukas. Lukas is said to have created a gubernatorial regulation (pergub) to make the actions appear legal.
Lukas Enembe deliberately created a gubernatorial regulation (pergub) that facilitated the plan to disburse operational funds amounting to Rp 1 trillion per year. Through this pergub, Lukas was able to evade oversight from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Lukas Enembe had briefly held suspect status in this case, but it lapsed after his death on 26 December 2023. The KPK continues the investigation into the Papua operational funds corruption case for suspect Deus Enumbi.
