KPK Summons Former Director of Road Transport Facilities at Ministry of Transportation
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned Danto Restyawan (DS), former Director of Road Transport Facilities at the Ministry of Transportation, as a witness in the alleged bribery case concerning the construction and maintenance of railway lines within the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation.
The examination took place at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for DS, as the former Director of Road Transport Facilities at the Ministry of Transportation,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Thursday.
Budi stated that the KPK summoned Danto Restyawan in his capacity as Director of Railway Traffic and Transport at the Ministry of Transportation from 2019 to 2021.
In addition, Budi said the KPK has scheduled examinations of two convicts with initials BP and PS at the Class I Sukamiskin Penitentiary in Bandung, West Java.
Previously, the case came to light following a hand-catching operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK on 11 April 2023 at the Class I Railway Technical Office for Central Java Region of the DJKA Ministry of Transportation.
Currently, the Class I Railway Technical Office for Central Java Region has been renamed to Class I Semarang Railway Technical Office.
The KPK then designated 10 suspects who were immediately detained in connection with the alleged corruption case for railway track construction and maintenance projects in Java, Sumatra, and Sulawesi.
As of 20 January 2026, the KPK has designated and detained a total of 21 suspects. The KPK has also designated two corporations as suspects in the case.
The alleged criminal corruption case occurred in projects including the construction of the double-track railway line Solo Balapan-Kadipiro-Kalioso; the construction of railway lines in Makassar, South Sulawesi; four railway track construction projects and two supervision projects in Lampegan, Cianjur, West Java; and the repair of level crossings in Java-Sumatra.
In the construction and maintenance of these projects, it is alleged that certain parties arranged the winning contractors through manipulation from the administrative process to the determination of the tender winner.
