KPK Summons Former Director General of Social Empowerment of the Ministry of Social Affairs as a Witness in the Rice Social Assistance Distribution Case
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned the former Director General of Social Empowerment of the Ministry of Social Affairs (Dirjen Dayasos), Edi Suharto, as a witness in the alleged corruption case involving the distribution of social assistance (bansos) rice for recipients of the Family Hope Program (PKH) in the 2020 fiscal year.
“The examination was conducted at the Bandung City Police,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo, in a statement on Thursday (26/2/2026).
In addition to Edi, the KPK also summoned a witness named Hartono Laras, who is a civil servant.
However, Budi has not yet revealed the details of what the investigators examined from the witnesses.
“In this case, the KPK has named three individuals and two corporations as suspects,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in a statement on Tuesday.
Budi also revealed that the state’s financial loss as a result of the corruption case reached IDR 200 billion.
“The initial calculation by investigators regarding the alleged state financial loss reached approximately IDR 200 billion,” he said.
The KPK has also prevented four people from traveling abroad in this case.
The travel ban was issued on August 12, 2025, and is valid for the next six months.
These include Herry Tho, who served as Director of Operations at DNR Logistics from 2021-2024; and the former Director General of Social Empowerment of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Edi Suharto.
“The KPK has imposed a travel ban on four people with the initials ES, BRT, KJT, and HER (HT) in connection with the investigation into the distribution of rice social assistance for recipients of the Family Hope Program (PKH) in 2020,” said Budi.
