The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned five civil servants (ASN) from the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections (Kemenimipas) for questioning as witnesses in an alleged extortion case related to the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals (WNA). KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Tuesday that the examination is scheduled at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for RRS, a Section Head; DAP, Administrative Staff to the Deputy Minister of Imipas; JUN, a member of the Status Transfer Team at the Directorate General of Immigration; HSW, a Subdirectorate Head; and ROT, Chair of the Limited Stay Permit Team at the Directorate General of Immigration. Budi added that the KPK also summoned two private sector individuals, FRE and PPT, as witnesses in the case. During the operation, the KPK arrested 17 people, comprising eight state officials or civil servants and nine private individuals suspected of acting as intermediaries in the processing of immigration documents. Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Immigration and Corrections Silmy Karim surrendered to the KPK on 3 June 2026. On 4 June 2026, the KPK named eight suspects in the alleged extortion case involving the processing of foreign nationals’ residence permits during the 2022–2026 period within the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, which later transitioned to the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections. The eight suspects include Silmy Karim, who served as Director General of Immigration for the 2023–2024 period; Acting Director General of Immigration for the 2024–2025 period Saffar Muhammad Godam; Head of the West Java Regional Office of the Directorate General of Immigration Jaya Saputra, who also served as Director of Residence Permits and Immigration Status for the 2024–2025 period; and Head of the Class I Special Non-TPI Immigration Office for West Jakarta Ronald Arman Abdullah. The other suspects are Subdirectorate Heads at the Directorate of Residence Permits and Immigration Status Tessar Bayu Setyaji and Bagus Bramantyo, Chair of the Limited Stay Permit Status Transfer Team Juniadi Sri Priambudi, and Staff of the Residence Permit Subdirectorate Gusti Benardiansyah.
