The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is examining a number of witnesses in the development of a corruption case concerning importation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance. Today, the KPK summoned the Head of the Human Resources Bureau at the Ministry of Finance, Bambang Juli Istanto (BJI), for questioning.

“Today, Wednesday (12/8), the KPK has scheduled the examination of witnesses in the development of the investigation into an alleged criminal act of corruption related to customs and excise at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC),” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists on Wednesday (12/8/2026).

“BJI, Head of the Human Resources Bureau at the Ministry of Finance,” he added.

In addition to Bambang, the KPK also summoned Ayu Sukorini, a civil servant. The specific matters to be explored in this examination have not yet been detailed.

“The examination is being conducted at the KPK’s Merah Putih building,” he said.

In the development of this case, the KPK has named one new suspect, namely Gatot Heroe, who serves as Head of Supervision and Service for the Kediri Customs and Excise Regional Office. Gatot Heroe’s suspect status was initially conveyed by John Field after being examined by investigators and was confirmed by Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein.

“So if that has indeed been conveyed by the person concerned or John Field, then yes, it is true, there is already an investigation order against the person concerned (Gatot Heroe),” said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, on Wednesday (22/7), when asked to confirm that the new suspect is Gatot Heroe, Head of Supervision and Service for the Kediri Customs and Excise Regional Office.

In this case, the KPK has issued two new investigation orders as part of the case development process. The KPK has stated that a party has been named as a suspect.

“As a result of the investigation development and review of trial outcomes, we have issued two investigation orders,” said Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, to journalists at the KPK’s Merah Putih building in Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (21/7).

Taufik explained that one new suspect in this case remains within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise cluster. However, he has not yet detailed the identity of the new suspect.

Meanwhile, the other investigation order remains a general investigation order in which no suspect has yet been named.

“For the Customs and Excise cluster, we have already named the suspect. There is one, because it is still related to the case construction involving Customs and Excise officials, so we named them directly. Then, the second cluster is still related to the interests of Customs and Excise officials, but the events are different,” Taufik explained.
