The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has scheduled examinations of several witnesses related to alleged corruption at the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub). KPK is summoning Mohamad Risal Wasal (MRW), Director General of Transport and Multimodal Integration (Intram) at the Ministry of Transportation, today.

“Today, Thursday (23/4), KPK has scheduled a witness in the alleged bribery case related to the procurement of railway lines within DJKA - Ministry of Transportation,” said KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to reporters on Thursday (23/4/2026).

“MRW, a civil servant - Director General of Railways since December 2022,” he added.

In addition, KPK is summoning Dicky Hendrik Kusbiantoro, Staff Director of Railway Infrastructure at the Directorate of Railway Infrastructure and a non-civil servant government employee at the Ministry of Transportation, as well as Nurhadi Unggul Wibowo, Head of Class II Transportation Technical Implementation Unit in South Sumatra. The specific matters to be explored in these examinations have not yet been detailed.

“The examinations will be conducted at the KPK Merah Putih building,” he stated.

For information, KPK has named inactive Regent of Pati Sudewo as a suspect in the case of bribery involving railway line construction and maintenance projects. KPK stated that Sudewo was named as a suspect in his capacity as a former member of Commission V of the House of Representatives (DPR RI).

This case began to unfold through a sting operation (OTT) on 11 April 2023 at the Central Java Railway Technical Office. The investigation by KPK has continued to develop the case, uncovering similar practices in West Java, North Sumatra, and Sulawesi.

To date, there are already 21 suspects, including two corporations, in this case.
