KPK Summons Confidant of Former MPR Secretary General Ma’ruf Cahyono
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned a confidant of former MPR RI Secretary General Ma’ruf Cahyono for questioning as a witness in a case investigating alleged gratuities within the MPR RI Secretariat General. “The KPK has scheduled an examination at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta for ZKR, a private entrepreneur,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday. In addition to ZKR, Budi stated that the KPK summoned three civil servants from the MPR RI Secretariat General for questioning on Wednesday, identified by the initials RRS, TRY, and CCR. Prior to summoning these witnesses, the KPK had examined four witnesses in Jakarta on Tuesday (14/7). They included three MPR RI employees with the initials UM, IZ, and RSD, as well as JNT, a private sector party. The KPK announced the commencement of an investigation into the alleged gratuity case related to the procurement of goods and services within the MPR RI Secretariat General on 20 June 2025. On 23 June 2025, the KPK began summoning witnesses and announced it had named a state official as a suspect. Subsequently, on 3 July 2025, the KPK revealed that the suspect in the case was Ma’ruf Cahyono. The KPK detained Ma’ruf Cahyono on 9 July 2026 at the Merah Putih Building branch of the State Detention Centre. The KPK suspects that Ma’ruf Cahyono received gratuities amounting to approximately Rp37.8 billion during his tenure as MPR Secretary General.
