The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has summoned Medi Yanto Sipahutar, a civil servant at the Audit Board of Indonesia (BPK), for questioning today in a case involving railway construction and maintenance projects under the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) at the Ministry of Transportation in West Java. The KPK named Medi as a suspect in the case in 2024.

“The questioning is taking place at the West Java Provincial Representative Office of the Development Finance Controller (BPKP) in Bandung,” KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told reporters on Wednesday (28 October 2026).

Budi said Medi was summoned to help complete the case file. He added that Medi would be detained once the file was finalised.

“This week’s series of witness examinations also includes steps to complete the investigation file. In due course, investigators will schedule coercive detention measures for the suspects,” Budi said.

Three other witnesses were also summoned by investigators today:

  • Achyar Pasaribu, former head of the West Java Railway Engineering Centre (BTP) from January 2019 to August 2020

  • Wungundari, a former staff member of the DJKA’s West Java BTP

  • Endang Setiawan, head of the Bandung Class I Railway Engineering Centre (BTP)

In 2024, the KPK named Medi as a new suspect in the DJKA Ministry of Transportation bribery case involving railway construction in West Java. Medi was named alongside Yofi Okatrisza, a civil servant at the Ministry of Transportation.

“One from the Ministry of Transportation and one from the BPK,” then-KPK spokesperson Ali Fikri told reporters on Monday (22 January 2024).

How the DJKA case began

The case first came to light in a sting operation on 11 April 2023 at the Central Java Railway Engineering Centre. KPK investigators continued to develop the case, uncovering alleged similar practices in West Java, North Sumatra and Sulawesi.

One of the suspects is suspended Pati regent Sudewo, who is accused in connection with bribery involving railway construction and maintenance projects. The KPK said Sudewo was named as a suspect in his capacity as a former member of Commission V of the House of Representatives.
