KPK Summons 5 Travel Agency Bosses as Witnesses in Hajj Quota Corruption Case

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) summoned five hajj travel agency bosses as witnesses in connection with the alleged corruption case regarding the 2023-2024 hajj quota on Tuesday (7/4/2026). They are Sri Agung Nurhayati, Director of PT Agas Khaera Muti Hanana; Unang Abdul Fatah, President Director of PT Al Amin Mulia Lestari; Christ Maharani Handayani, Director of PT Al Aqsha Jisru Dakwah and Director of PT Edipeni Travel; Suwartini, Director of PT Al Haadi Ziarah Ampel; and Dwi Puji Hastuti, Operational Director of PT Alhijaz Indowisata. However, the KPK has not yet disclosed the specific matters to be examined from these five witnesses. In this case, after designating former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas and his former special staff member, Ishfah Abidal Aziz alias Gus Alex, as suspects, the KPK designated two new suspects on Monday (30/3/2026). The two suspects are Ismail Adham, Operational Director of PT Makassar Toraja (Maktour), and Asrul Azis Taba, Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama and General Chairman of the Kesthuri Association. “The KPK has designated two more individuals as suspects, namely ISM as Operational Director of PT Maktour and ASR as Commissioner of PT Raudah Eksati Utama and also General Chairman of the Kesthuri Association,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu during a press conference at the Red and White Building, Jakarta, on Monday. He stated that Ismail Adham gave USD 30,000 to Gus Alex to smooth the arrangement for filling the additional special hajj quota. In addition, Ismail also gave a sum of money to the Director General of Hajj and Umrah Organisers/Dirjen PHU of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Hilman Latief, amounting to USD 5,000 and 16,000 SAR or Saudi Riyal. “The receipt of the money by IAA (Gus Alex) and HL (Hilman Latief) is alleged to represent YCQ as the Minister of Religious Affairs at that time,” he said. Asep added that due to these payments, eight Special Hajj Worship Organisers (PIHK) affiliated with ASR also gained unlawful profits in 2024 totalling Rp 40.8 billion. “The receipt of the money by IAA (Gus Alex) and HL (Hilman Latief) is alleged to represent YCQ as the Minister of Religious Affairs at that time,” he said. Or as referred to in Article 603 or Article 604 of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code in conjunction with Article 20 letter (c) of Law Number 1 of 2023 on the Criminal Code.
