KPK Submits Evidence and Four Experts at Yaqut Cholil Qoumas Pre-trial Hearing
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) presented a number of pieces of evidence and four expert witnesses in the pre-trial hearing against former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas at the South Jakarta District Court on Friday, 6 March 2026.
The proceedings began with the examination of evidence submitted by the KPK as the respondent. Thereafter, the hearing continued with the testimony of the expert witnesses.
The first expert to testify was Professor Erdianto, Professor of Criminal Law at Universitas Riau.
Two other experts present were a criminal procedure expert and a state finance expert.
During the proceedings, the presiding judge reminded the parties not to confront the opinions of the experts with the testimonies already given in previous sessions. ‘I urge the parties to avoid confronting the expert’s opinions with those of other experts who have testified previously,’ the judge said.
The expert witnesses presented by the respondent included: criminal law expert from Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII) Yogyakarta, Mahrus Ali; criminal law expert from UII Yogyakarta, Prof. Dr. Mudzakkir; expert in state finance and administrative law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Indonesia, Dian Puji Nugraha Simatupang; and criminal law expert from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), Oce Madril.
