KPK Studying 4.5-Year Sentence of Ex-Deputy Manpower Minister Noel in K3 Extortion Case

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is studying the verdict against former Deputy Manpower Minister Reyna Usman Noel, who was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison in a bribery and gratification case related to the management of occupational safety and health (K3) certificates at the Ministry of Manpower. KPK Deputy Chairman Johanis Tanak stated that the leadership would address the matter after receiving a written trial report prepared by public prosecutors. “Whatever the court’s decision, the KPK will respect it,” he told journalists on Friday (5/6/2026). KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo also expressed respect for the court’s ruling and appreciation for the panel of judges’ decision, which found Noel legally and convincingly proven to have committed corruption. Budi could not yet confirm whether the KPK would file an appeal, noting that KPK prosecutors would first conduct a juridical analysis of the decision within a seven-day consideration period. Previously, the panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced Noel to four years and six months in prison. The court also imposed a fine of Rp200 million, with a subsidiary penalty of 90 days’ confinement, and ordered him to pay restitution of Rp3.435 billion. The judges ruled that Noel’s assets could be seized and auctioned to cover the restitution amount, and if insufficient, he would serve an additional one year in prison.
