KPK: Sting Operation on Cilacap Regent Related to Alleged Kickbacks from Municipal Projects
Jakarta — The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that a sting operation ensnaring Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman was connected to alleged kickbacks received in relation to projects managed by the Cilacap Regency Administration.
“Regarding the confidential investigative operation today in the Cilacap region, there are suspected receipts carried out by the regent’s office in connection with projects in Cilacap Regency,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Red and White Building in Jakarta on Friday (13 March 2026).
Budi stated that the KPK arrested 27 individuals in the operation, comprising the Cilacap Regent, civil servants, and private sector representatives.
Budi said Regent Syamsul Auliya was undergoing intensive questioning before being transported to Jakarta.
“Subsequently, the team will naturally conduct further questioning and bring him to the Red and White KPK Building,” he said.
Budi also stated that evidence secured in this covert operation included cash.
“Evidence secured in this sting operation includes cash, with the amount to be updated later,” he said.
In this operation, the KPK arrested Cilacap Regent Syamsul Auliya Rachman.
“Correct (the Cilacap regent was arrested),” said KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto when confirmed by Kompas.com on Friday.
