KPK Sting Operation: Muara Enim Regent Among 10 Detained in Jakarta and South Sumatra
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has once again conducted a sting operation (OTT). This time, the covert operation took place in Muara Enim Regency, South Sumatra, and Jakarta.
According to gathered information, the Regent of Muara Enim, H Edison, is alleged to be one of the parties detained during the operation. The Deputy Chairman of the KPK, Fitroh Rohcayanto, confirmed the existence of the sting operation carried out by the anti-corruption agency in Muara Enim.
“That is correct,” he told reporters on Monday, 8 June 2026.
To date, the KPK has not disclosed the specific details of the case that prompted the operation. However, circulating information suggests that in addition to detaining several parties, the KPK team also conducted searches and sealed several locations.
Meanwhile, KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo revealed that a total of ten people were detained in the covert operation. “During this closed investigation, the team secured ten individuals in the Jakarta and South Sumatra regions,” said Budi.
Of that number, five individuals are from the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the local regional head. “Five people are from the Muara Enim Regency Government, one of whom is the Regent. The other five are from the private sector,” he added.
Nevertheless, Budi has not yet disclosed the full identities of the detained parties or the chronology of the KPK investigators’ operation. He noted that the examination process is still ongoing, so further information cannot yet be released to the public.
Currently, the detained individuals are undergoing intensive interrogation. The KPK has a maximum of 24 hours to determine their legal status before deciding on further legal action. During this period, investigators will conduct a case review to determine whether those detained will be officially named as suspects.
