KPK Sting Operation Involving Muara Enim Regent Held in Jakarta and South Sumatra

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed a sting operation (OTT) involving the Regent of Muara Enim, South Sumatra, Edison, and several others, concerning illegal receipts from procurement processes. The KPK arrested a total of 10 individuals during the covert operation conducted on 7-8 June 2026, spanning the Jakarta and South Sumatra regions.

“The case relates to the alleged receipt of funds by state officials from private parties,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo when confirmed via written message on Monday (8/6). He added that the matter concerns procurement within the scope of the Muara Enim Regency Government.

Of those arrested by the KPK, five individuals are from the Muara Enim Regency Government, one of whom is the Regent. The remaining five individuals are from the private sector. Some of those caught in the act are currently undergoing interrogation at the South Sumatra Regional Police.

“The team is still in the field; we will provide further updates on the developments,” said Budi.

According to various media reports, the sting operation was accompanied by the sealing of several departmental offices within the Muara Enim Regency Government, including the Office of Education.

This marks the second KPK sting operation conducted in close succession this June. Previously, the KPK uncovered an alleged extortion case related to foreign national stay permits and/or the receipt of gratifications within the Directorate General of Immigration for the 2022-2026 period, through an operation held in Jakarta, West Java, and Bali on 2-3 June 2026.
