KPK states political funder Sugiri Sancoko was once a witness in DJKA case
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) states that Sugiri Heru Sangoko, the political funder for Sugiri Sancoko’s candidacy as Regent of Ponorogo in the 2024 regional elections, was once a witness in the DJKA Ministry of Transportation case. The case concerns allegations of bribery for the construction and maintenance of railway lines within the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation (DJKA Kemenhub). “The examination took place in East Java. Investigators delved into allegations of project fees (rewards, ed.),” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists in Jakarta on Wednesday. Budi explained that during the examination on 22 April 2026, the KPK probed allegations of money being given to enable private entities to undertake DJKA Kemenhub projects. Sugiri Heru, who currently serves as Chairman of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) for Ponorogo Regency in East Java, was examined by the KPK on that date in his capacity as Director of PT Giri Bangun Sentosa. Previously, on 9 November 2025, the KPK designated four individuals as suspects in a case of alleged bribery for position arrangements, work projects at Ponorogo General Hospital dr. Harjono, and other receipts or gratuities within the Ponorogo Regency Government. The suspect designations followed a raid operation (OTT) in the Ponorogo area. The four individuals are Ponorogo Regent Sugiri Sancoko (SUG), Director of RSUD dr. Harjono Ponorogo Yunus Mahatma (YUM), Ponorogo Regional Secretary Agus Pramono (AGP), and Sucipto (SC) as a private party or partner of RSUD Ponorogo. In the cluster of alleged bribery for position arrangements, the bribe recipients are Sugiri Sancoko and Agus Pramono. Meanwhile, the bribe giver is Yunus Mahatma. For the cluster of alleged bribery in work projects at RSUD Ponorogo, the bribe recipients are Sugiri Sancoko and Yunus Mahatma. Meanwhile, the bribe giver is Sucipto. As for the cluster of alleged gratuities within the Ponorogo Regency Government, the bribe recipient is Sugiri Sancoko. Meanwhile, the bribe giver is Yunus Mahatma. Meanwhile, the DJKA Kemenhub case originated from a KPK raid operation on 11 April 2023 at the Class I Railway Technical Office for Central Java Region DJKA Kemenhub. Currently, the Class I Railway Technical Office for Central Java Region has been renamed to Class I Semarang Railway Technical Office. As of 20 January 2026, the KPK has designated and detained 21 suspects in the DJKA Kemenhub case. In addition, the KPK has also designated two corporations as suspects in that case.
