KPK states Muara Enim Regent Edison's sting operation relates to procurement
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) stated that the sting operation (OTT) that led to the arrest of Muara Enim Regent Edison is related to procurement.
“It concerns procurements within the scope of the Muara Enim Regency Government, South Sumatra,” KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo told journalists in Jakarta on Monday.
Budi further explained that several state officials arrested in the sting operation are alleged to have received money from private parties in connection with procurement in the Muara Enim Regency Government.
Previously, the KPK announced the arrest of ten individuals in the South Sumatra sting operation, consisting of five members of the Muara Enim Regency Government and five private sector representatives. The KPK also announced that one of the ten individuals arrested is the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison.
The KPK has 24 hours to determine the legal status of those arrested in the sting operation, in accordance with the Criminal Procedure Code (KUHAP). This operation marks the 12th sting operation conducted by the KPK during 2026.
