JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has stated that it did not force the family of West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono to turn off the CCTV during the search at his home in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

“We need to emphasise that the CCTV was turned off by the family. Yes, and there was no coercion there; it was done voluntarily,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo at the Merah Putih Building, Jakarta, on Thursday (2/4/2026).

He also said that the search ran smoothly and that the family and local officials were cooperative.

“There was no intervention as per the narratives circulating in society,” he stated.

“No, there wasn’t. The search activity proceeded smoothly and well,” he added.

Separately, Ono Surono’s lawyer, Sahali, said that investigators asked for the CCTV to be turned off and intimidated his client.

“After the CCTV was turned off, the investigators are then alleged to have intimidated Mrs Ono Surono’s wife and there was pushing and shoving with the legal advisor who tried to protect Ono Surono’s wife,” said Sahali in a written statement received by reporters on Thursday night.

“Even though evidence from the WA Group arisan was shown to the investigators, that the arisan money belonged to many people, it was not heeded by the investigators,” he said.

Sahali assessed the search as an attempt to frame Ono.

“This is for us merely an attempt by certain investigators to frame Kang Ono Surono, so they had to seize items that had no connection at all,” he said.

The KPK seized evidence in the form of cash worth hundreds of millions, documents, and electronic evidence (BBE) from the search at the home of West Java DPRD Deputy Chairman Ono Surono in Bandung, West Java, on Wednesday (1/4/2026).

“In this search, investigators secured and seized a number of documents, electronic evidence, and cash worth hundreds of millions of rupiah found in the ONS (Ono Surono) room,” said KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in his statement on Thursday (2/4/2026).

Budi said that the search activity was witnessed by the wife, family members, and local officials.

“We emphasise that it was carried out in accordance with procedures. The investigators have shown their investigation administration,” he said.
