Jakarta – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that former Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas coordinated to request a postponement of his examination scheduled for today.

KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo stated that the KPK is still awaiting an official letter from Yaqut’s legal team regarding the postponement request.

“We are still requesting an official letter if a postponement is being requested. This naturally includes the reasons for the rescheduling request,” Budi said in his statement on Thursday (12 March 2026).

“Earlier we confirmed the KPK letter. Because yesterday when the verdict was issued, Mr Asep (Deputy for Enforcement and Execution at the KPK) stated they would only schedule the summons at a later time,” Melissa said when contacted by journalists on Thursday.

“Therefore, we are also questioning the summons letter dated 6 March 2026, given that the pre-trial proceedings are still ongoing. We have already coordinated with the KPK on this matter as well,” she added.

As previously reported, the KPK has designated Yaqut and his former special assistant, Ishfah Abidal Aziz, also known as Gus Alex, as suspects in connection with an alleged corruption case involving the 2024 hajj quota.

Budi stated that in this matter, the KPK is applying Articles 2 and 3 of the Law on the Eradication of Corruption Offences (Corruption Eradication Law), which govern the occurrence of state losses.

In the course of the investigation, the KPK has revealed that state losses resulting from this alleged hajj quota corruption case amount to 622 billion rupiah.
