KPK States Fahd Arafiq Faces Heavier Sentence After Three Corruption Cases

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has revealed that the punishment for Golkar Party politician Fahd El Fouz (FEZ), also known as Fahd Arafiq, could be intensified due to his status as a recidivist.

Fahd has been involved with the KPK on three separate occasions. This was confirmed by the Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK, Achmad Taufik Husein, on Wednesday (16/09/2026).

Taufik explained that an individual holding recidivist status may face heavier penalties for repeating similar criminal acts. “In terms of legal concept, a recidivist certainly faces a heavier sentence than someone committing a criminal act for the first time,” he explained.

Fahd’s first encounter with the KPK involved bribery related to the management of the Regional Infrastructure Adjustment Fund (DPID) in 2012, for which he was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison. His second case occurred in September 2017, where he was proven to have accepted bribes regarding the procurement of Qurans and computer laboratories for MTs under the Ministry of Religious Affairs for the 2011-2012 fiscal year, resulting in a 4-year prison sentence.

Most recently, Fahd has been named a suspect in an alleged case involving the management of Summarecon’s Building Use Rights (HGB). The Golkar politician was named a suspect alongside seven others, including the former Regent of Kebumen, Arif Sugiyanto, the President Director of PT Summarecon Agung Tbk, Adrianto Pitojo Adhi, and the Director General of Land and Spatial Control and Order at the Ministry of ATR/BPN, Lampri.

In connection with this latest case, the KPK has seized cash amounting to Rp106 billion.
