KPK Spokesperson's Response to Faizal Assegaf's Police Report

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Budi Prasetyo, stated that he has no problem with being reported to Metro Jaya Regional Police by Faizal Assegaf, the director of PT Sinkos Multimedia Mandiri. “Yes, of course we see no issue with it,” Budi said at the KPK’s Red and White Building in Jakarta on Tuesday. Budi explained that he has no issue because his statements regarding the examination of Faizal Assegaf in the investigation of the alleged corruption case within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance constitute accountability to the public. “What we then convey to the public is part of the KPK’s accountability to the public,” he clarified. In addition, he said that he and the KPK respect Faizal Assegaf’s choice to file a report with Metro Jaya Regional Police. Meanwhile, he reiterated that Faizal Assegaf was examined by the KPK as a witness in the Customs case on 7 April 2026, specifically related to allegations of receiving goods. “Regarding the examination of the alleged receipt of goods or facilities by the individual, this has also been admitted to the investigators by the individual himself,” he stated. Previously, on 4 February 2026, the KPK conducted a sting operation (OTT) within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise of the Ministry of Finance. On the same date, the KPK revealed that one of the individuals arrested in the OTT was Rizal, the Head of the West Sumatra Customs Region Office. They included Rizal (RZL) as the Director of Enforcement and Investigation for Customs from 2024 to January 2026, Head of the Subdirectorate of Enforcement and Investigation Intelligence for Customs Sisprian Subiaksono (SIS), and Head of the Customs Intelligence Section Orlando Hamonangan (ORL). Further, John Field (JF), the owner of Blueray Cargo, Andri (AND), the Chair of the Import Documentation Team for Blueray Cargo, and Dedy Kurniawan (DK), the Operational Manager of Blueray Cargo. On 26 February 2026, the KPK announced Budiman Bayu Prasojo (BBP), the Head of the Excise Intelligence Section of the Directorate of Enforcement and Investigation for Customs, as a new suspect in the case. Subsequently, on 7 April 2026, Faizal Assegaf was examined by the KPK. Then, on 14 April 2026, he reported the KPK spokesperson’s statements regarding the material of his examination to Metro Jaya Regional Police, feeling defamed.
