Spokesperson for the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Budi Prasetyo, has responded calmly to the police report filed by PT Sinkos Multimedia Mandiri’s Director, Faizal Assegaf, who is also a witness in the alleged corruption case within the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. Budi respects the legal action taken by Faizal. “Regarding the report, firstly, we certainly respect it as a constitutional right of a citizen, and we at the KPK believe that our colleagues at the Provincial Police will objectively, professionally, and precisely examine the report,” Budi stated when contacted on Tuesday (14/4). Budi assured that the law enforcement process for the alleged corruption case involving Faizal as a witness has been conducted in accordance with applicable procedures and upholds the presumption of innocence principle. “On the other hand, as a public body, the KPK carries out its anti-corruption duties openly, transparently, and accountably, so we convey information openly to the public, including on the progress of case handling,” he said. “Why? So that the public is not only informed about the developments in case handling at the KPK, but also so that the public can monitor and oversee the processes carried out by the KPK,” he added. Budi then explained that the reason for examining Faizal as a witness is essentially to assist or facilitate the investigation process. Every statement or information provided, Budi clarified, will help investigators uncover the case comprehensively. “Then, in the examination of the individual as a witness, the material examined relates to the alleged receipt by the individual from one of the suspects in the non-corruption criminal case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise, where this case originated from a hand-catching incident,” Budi stated. “Regarding the examination of the alleged receipt of goods or facilities by the individual, this has also been admitted to the investigators by the individual, and the goods received by the individual have been seized by the investigators,” he emphasised. The police report filed by Faizal is registered under number: LP/B/2592/IV/2026/SPKT/POLDA METRO JAYA. Faizal reported Budi for alleged defamation. Faizal Assegaf was summoned as a witness in the alleged corruption case at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise on 7 April 2026. In addition to him, the KPK also summoned Customs and Excise employee Muhammad Mahzun and Rahmat as witnesses. The examination of these three witnesses is to complete the case file for seven suspects in the alleged bribery for goods importation and gratification case. They are former Director of Investigation and Enforcement at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise from 2024 to January 2026, Rizal; Head of the Subdirectorate of Enforcement Intelligence and Investigation at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (Kasubdit Intel P2 DJBC), Sisprian Subiaksono; Head of the Intelligence Section at the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (Kasi Intel DJBC), Orlando; Chairman of the Import Documents Team at PT Blueray, Andri; Customs and Excise employee Budiman Bayu Prasojo; Owner of PT Blueray, John Field; and Operational Manager of PT Blueray, Dedy Kurniawan. The suspects have been detained at the KPK Detention Centre. For the PT Blueray parties, the investigators have handed over the case file to the Public Prosecutor.
