KPK Spokesperson Answers 50 Questions from Metro Jaya Police Regarding Defamation Allegations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The spokesperson for the Corruption Eradasting Commission (KPK), Budi Prasetyo, has answered 50 questions presented by the Metro Jaya Regional Police investigation team to provide information regarding a public report concerning alleged defamation.
Budi underwent the clarification process from Tuesday morning at 10:30 WIB until near sunset.
“There were approximately 50 questions presented by the investigators. The situation and conditions were very conducive, so the request for information proceeded smoothly from morning until afternoon,” said Budi at the Metro Jaya Regional Police headquarters, Jakarta.
He explained that his appearance was a form of compliance with applicable legal procedures and a demonstration of the KPK’s commitment to maintaining transparency in law enforcement.
“Our presence here is a form of compliance with the ongoing legal process and proof that the law enforcement process carried out by the KPK adheres to the principles,” he stated.
Regarding the identity of the reporter or the specific details of the case, Budi declined to elaborate further. He emphasised that the identity of the reporter is excluded information and falls under the authority of the investigators.
“There was no (mediation). We must maintain independence, professionalism, and nothing personal. What we convey is purely based on facts and truth,” said Budi.
This examination was a rescheduling of a previous summons that had been adjusted to accommodate the work schedules of both parties.
During the session, Budi also expressed his appreciation to the Metro Jaya Regional Police ranks for handling the case in a manner he deemed professional, objective, and precise.
Previously, Budi Prasetyo was reported to the Metro Jaya Regional Police by political critic Faizal Assegaf, who felt slandered by the official.
“I came as a citizen to fight for my right to report the KPK spokesperson for spreading slander, public lies, and sociological issues regarding the problems occurring in customs handling,” said Faal when met at the Integrated Police Service Centre (SPKT) of the Metro Jaya Regional Police on Tuesday (14/4).
Faizal explained that the chronology began when he was summoned on 7 April 2026 to provide information, clarification, and was presented with five questions.
