Kupang — ANTARA. The Integrity Assessment Survey (SPI) released by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) shows East Nusa Tenggara Province (NTT) entering the corruption-risk category in 2025, with an integrity index score of only 65.26.

That means NTT, particularly the NTT provincial government, is deemed to have corruption risk that is vulnerable or at risk of corruption, said Maruli Tua Manurung, Director of Coordination and Regional Supervision for Region V at the KPK, during a coordination meeting on Monitoring and Evaluation of Improvements to Local Government Governance in Kupang on Thursday.

According to him, scores from 0 to 72.9 are classified as vulnerable to corruption, while 73 to 77.9 fall into the corruption-watch category, and 78 to 100 into the category of corruption kept in check.

He added that the administration under the leadership of Melki Laka Lena and Johni Asadoma faces a heavy task to move NTT out of the risk zone and make it a region free from corruption.

He stated that, over the last five years, from 2021 to 2025, NTT has remained in the red zone for corruption cases, which appears to have been left untreated.

“We have the governor’s data; for five consecutive years, the vulnerability to corruption captured by SPI has kept us in the red or corruption-prone category,” he said.

Maruli also noted that in 2027 the KPK will conduct another survey, and he hopes the results will show improvement.

“At the very least, we should move to the yellow zone, or ideally directly to the green zone free from corruption, but the effort will have to be multiplied.”
