Semarang (ANTARA) - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has reminded that the signing of an integrity pact related to preventing corruption should not be regarded merely as a formality, but must be carried out with full sincerity. KPK Deputy Chair Fitroh Rohcahyanto in Semarang on Monday stated that the KPK has been quite intensive in carrying out various corruption prevention efforts. “So, even though there are enforcement activities, the KPK has actually been quite intensive in prevention efforts, including today’s event,” he said. This was conveyed by Fitroh after an anti-corruption dialogue with the KPK, as well as briefing for all regents-deputy regents, mayors-deputy mayors, and chairs of the DPRD at the regency/city level in Central Java. He explained that the event was initiated by Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi, one of the reasons being the involvement of three regents in Central Java in KPK sting operations (OTT). During the event, the signing of the integrity pact was also conducted to support the realisation of clean and corruption-free governance, free from collusion and nepotism. The integrity pact was signed by the Central Java Governor, Deputy Chair of the Central Java DPRD, regents, mayors, and chairs of the DPRD across Central Java. According to him, all regional heads already possess knowledge about anti-corruption, including the impacts of corruption, but what is lacking is self-awareness. “However, there are also technical matters conveyed by the KPK team. How to build a system far from loopholes for corruption. But no matter how good the system is, it must be accompanied by implementers who have awareness,” he said. Regarding the OTT against three regional heads in Central Java, Fitroh said that the KPK actually monitors all regions in Indonesia for corruption crimes, not just in Central Java. “Actually, not only in Central Java, we conduct this monitoring in almost all regions. It’s just that yesterday it happened to be in several areas in Central Java. Of course, this is also a concern for us,” he said. Looking ahead, Fitroh hopes there will be no more public officials in Central Java caught in KPK OTT following the briefing conducted and the signing of the integrity pact. Meanwhile, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi stated that the guidance on corruption prevention from the KPK is a joint effort to create clear and good governance. He hopes that the integrity pact signed by regents-mayors, as well as DPRD chairs, must truly be read and implemented, and not stop at just a signature. If after the briefing and signing of the integrity pact there are still regional heads who violate it, he emphasised that it becomes the risk and personal responsibility of the individual concerned. “Yes, their own risk, I do not tolerate it. Because? Violating the law is personalistic, the principle is personal. Whoever it is. So, it’s personal responsibility,” he said.
