The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized evidence valued at Rp21.2 billion, consisting of cash and precious metals, following a sting operation targeting Sukoharjo Regent Etik Suryani. The anti-graft agency detained 18 individuals during the operation on Thursday, 9 July 2026, across three areas: Sukoharjo, Surakarta, and Wonogiri. “The parties were subsequently questioned at the Surakarta Police Station. Afterwards, nine of them were taken to the KPK’s Merah Putih Building for further questioning,” said KPK Deputy for Enforcement and Execution Asep Guntur Rahayu on Saturday, 11 July 2026. Asep detailed that the seized evidence comprised Rp6.4 billion in cash, foreign currency worth approximately Rp7.5 billion, and 25 pieces of 100-gram gold bars totalling 2.5 kilograms, valued at Rp7.3 billion. The foreign currency seized included 460,350 Singapore dollars, 30,000 Australian dollars, 31,300 US dollars, 586,000 Japanese yen, 12,210 Malaysian ringgit, and 34,585 Thai baht. “Some of the evidence was secured from RCH’s workspace, the Regent’s safes in Wonogiri and Laweyan, and from ND,” he stated. He revealed that the nine individuals taken for further questioning at the KPK’s Merah Putih Building were Etik Suryani; Sukoharjo Regency Regional Secretary AHW; Head of the Sukoharjo Regency Government’s Regional Financial and Asset Management Agency (BPKAD) RCH; Secretary of the Sukoharjo Regency Government’s BPKAD ND; Assistant for Government and People’s Welfare of the Sukoharjo Regency Regional Secretary TGP; Head of General Affairs of the Sukoharjo Regency Regional Secretariat and the Regent’s confidant TRM; Head of the Public Works and Public Housing Agency (DPUPR) of Sukoharjo Regency BSA; private sector party ET; and a student HFD. Based on sufficient preliminary evidence, the KPK elevated the alleged corruption case related to extortion within the Sukoharjo Regency Government to the investigation stage and named three suspects.
