KPK Seizes Rp 2 Billion Following Sting Operation Against Muara Enim Regent
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized Rp 2 billion in cash following a sting operation (OTT) involving the Regent of Muara Enim, Edison. The seized evidence includes various currencies, including Rupiah, Riyals, and US Dollars.
“The team also secured evidence including cash in the form of Rupiah, Dollars, and Riyals,” explained KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo to journalists at the KPK Merah Putih building, Kuningan, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (9/6/2026).
In addition to the cash, investigators have also seized bank account balances suspected to be related to payments received by the Regent. “There are also several account balances. This is because some of these accounts are suspected to have been used as repositories for alleged receipts obtained by officials in the Muara Enim Regency Government from private parties, so these balances have been secured,” said Budi. He added that the total amount secured by the team during this series of sting operations is nearly Rp 2 billion.
KPK has officially named Regent Edison as a suspect in a procurement case within the Muara Enim Regency’s Department of Education and Culture. The designation of Edison as a suspect followed a case review by the KPK. He is alleged to have received bribes related to procurement processes in the department.
“That is correct, one of them is the Regent,” Budi clarified. In addition to Regent Edison, three other individuals have also been named as suspects. However, Budi did not provide specific details regarding their identities, noting only that the four suspects consist of both state officials and private sector representatives.
