KPK Seizes PUPR Project Documents and CCTV in Case Against Pemalang Regent
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is continuing to investigate the alleged extortion case involving the suspended Regent of Pemalang, Anom Widiyantoro. In the latest series of investigations, the investigative team conducted marathon searches at 15 different locations spread across four areas of Central Java during the period of 5 to 8 August 2026.
KPK spokesperson Budi Prasetyo confirmed that from these searches, investigators seized a number of crucial documents, particularly those related to infrastructure projects. “Investigators carried out the seizure of several documents, including documents related to projects that are being and will be carried out at the Public Works and Spatial Planning Agency (PUPR) of Pemalang Regency,” said Budi in Jakarta on Sunday (9/8).
The searches were conducted at homes belonging to parties suspected of having links to the case. In addition to physical documents, the KPK also secured electronic evidence in the form of mobile phones and other electronic documents. Notably, investigators also seized CCTV footage from a hotel located in Magelang to strengthen the construction of the case.
This case originated from the 18th sting operation (OTT) conducted by the KPK throughout 2026 on 28 July. In that operation, Anom Widiyantoro was one of 21 people detained. Based on the official announcement on 30 July 2026, the KPK divided the case into two main clusters.
The first cluster involves Anom Widiyantoro and his confidant, Mohamad Haris alias Gus Haris, as suspects. They are alleged to have committed extortion against officials of the Pemalang Regency Government and private parties.
The second cluster, extortion against the Regent, involves a police officer assigned to the KPK, Setya Budi Dias, along with his father, Lilik Budi Suprianto. Both have been named as suspects for alleged extortion against Anom Widiyantoro.
Budi Prasetyo stressed that all evidence seized is currently being analysed in depth. This step is being taken to strengthen additional evidence, examine the role of each party involved, and ensure the legal construction of the case becomes increasingly solid before it is transferred to trial.
